Performance 2: The Circuit
Collaboration with Matt Irie
2002
Performance
Repeated indefinitely
Two pairs of actors engage in “mirrored” dialogues as each pair moves from booth to booth at a large art expo, across the aisle from one another. In one dialogue, a character makes the case that “reality television” is less corrosive than its apparent opposite, “dramatic” or properly fictional television. Meanwhile, a character in the other pair makes the reverse claim. When each pair moves to its next booth, they switch dialogues, transitioning cyclically from one dialogue to the other and back again, in a continuous circuit.
